Drivers face fines and jail time due to animals in cars: what they will be punished for
According to hvylya.net: Ukrainian drivers may face not only administrative but also criminal liability for mistreatment of domestic animals, particularly for leaving them in a closed car during hot weather. Current legislation provides for strict penalties, including imprisonment.
Serhiy Saburov, the acting director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the Kyiv City State Administration, warned about the serious risks. According to him, leaving animals in parked cars under direct sunlight poses a fatal danger to four-legged friends.
The temperature inside a car can reach critical levels in just a few minutes, especially if the windows are tightly closed. This transforms the interior into a real 'heat trap,' which can become fatal for pets.
Due to the stuffy microclimate inside the car, an animal can suffer within just 10-15 minutes of being in a closed space. This makes any, even brief, leaving of a pet in a car during hot weather extremely risky.

Animal safety is a priority in transportation
Domestic animals do not have effective mechanisms to cool their bodies, so they quickly overheat in high temperatures. This leads to dehydration, loss of consciousness, and even death. Even if the car is in the shade, it does not guarantee safety for the four-legged passenger.
Previously in Ukraine, the rules for transporting animals were changed: what passengers need to know.
Leaving animals in a closed car during hot weather is not only negligence but also a violation of the law, which can lead to serious consequences for beloved pets. The temperature inside a car can rapidly rise, creating threatening conditions for animals. Therefore, it is important to follow the rules of safe transportation of pets to prevent tragic consequences.
