According to hvylya.net: According to Kuzin, the current vaccination coverage for measles, mumps, and rubella in Ukraine is only 44%. The lowest rates have been recorded in Kyiv, Odesa, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. The Chief Sanitary Doctor emphasized that to effectively protect against measles, vaccination coverage levels must be at least 95%.

Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 1200 cases of measles have been recorded in Ukraine, of which 900 are children under 17 years old. This is 17 times more than the previous year, when only 70 cases were recorded, reported Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin.
In recent years, Ukraine shows vaccination coverage for measles ranging from 85% to 88%, which is insufficient for effective control over the disease. Kuzin emphasized: 'Measles is currently the number one threat because it is indeed a dangerous disease, and it is essential to catch up on vaccinations or get vaccinated as soon as the first opportunity arises.'

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can lead to severe complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, and even death, especially among young children and people with weakened immune systems. The sharp increase in measles cases raises serious concerns among medical professionals, especially considering that most cases have been recorded among children.

The increase in measles cases in 2025 by 17 times is a troubling signal for the medical community. Critically low vaccination rates in Ukraine create unfavorable conditions for controlling and preventing the spread of this dangerous virus. Urgent measures must be taken to increase vaccination coverage and prevent further spread of the disease.
