Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia is providing assistance to the Iranian regime. He expressed hope that the war in the Middle East would be short-lived. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine will begin training Gulf countries to shoot down drones starting March 9. In his remarks, he also stressed that, despite Russia's aid to Iran, it is fortunate that the Iranian regime is not supplying Russia with missiles and other weaponry used in attacks against Ukraine. This situation highlights the complex web of global military support that often defines modern conflicts.

Training for Gulf Nations

The first group of Ukrainian experts and military personnel will depart for Gulf countries on Monday, March 9, to conduct training sessions. Zelenskyy observed that any loss of life in war is a tragedy, but there is currently no progress in peace negotiations. He emphasized that if a sustainable peace or ceasefire is not achieved in the conflict's early days, there is a significant risk of prolonged hostilities. This initiative marks a notable shift, with Ukraine now exporting its hard-won defensive expertise.

“This comparison may indicate the importance of international support and attention to situations arising in different regions of the world.” - Anton Troianovski, American journalist and head of The New York Times Moscow bureau

Zelenskyy's statement underscores Ukraine's active role in shaping international security amid threats from Russia and its allies. The training for Gulf nations could become a significant step in strengthening the region's defensive capabilities amidst rising global tensions. Simultaneously, Troianovski's comparison suggests that conflicts in different parts of the world may share common origins and require coordinated international action for resolution.
