Ukrainian President Holds Online Briefing with Journalists

According to Главком: In a recent online press conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the status of a crucial loan from the European Union and other pressing matters. He revealed he has held a series of negotiations with EU leaders aimed at securing continued financial aid for Ukraine, which remains heavily dependent on foreign assistance to sustain its economy and military.

Threats and Financial Support

Zelenskyy also highlighted that over 200 Ukrainian specialists are currently working in countries such as Qatar, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Jordan. This demonstrates the active role of Ukrainian professionals abroad, which contributes to the nation's economic resilience.

Furthermore, the President emphasized the ongoing threat from Russian invaders, who had planned a spring offensive for March. However, he stated that Ukraine's defense forces successfully thwarted these plans, showcasing the military's effectiveness.

Regarding international funding, Zelenskyy expressed concern over potential delays in receiving aid.

“What will be our Plan B if key aid packages, financial or military, are slowed down or reduced? For how long does Ukraine have funding for critical expenditures-the army, social payments? At what point will delays begin if the funds do not arrive?” he noted.

Despite these concerns, the President expressed optimism about securing funding from the European Union.

“We are more optimistic; they will find options to fund us partially. Regarding the first tranche we agreed upon-specifically on 20.03.2026, in April. I believe that in any case, by finding interim steps, the European Union must find a way out of this situation,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The current EU funding situation is critically important for Ukraine as it continues to face severe economic challenges due to the ongoing war. Support from international partners like the EU is vital for maintaining stability. Simultaneously, the active engagement of Ukrainian specialists overseas underscores the country's potential for economic growth, even during a crisis.

As the situation evolves, the urgency of securing international support becomes increasingly apparent. In light of President Zelenskyy's recent comments, it's essential to explore the implications of potential delays in the much-needed €90 billion aid package.
