Changes in financial aid from 2026: who will receive priority from international organizations
Changes in financial aid in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting from January 2026, the rules for providing financial assistance from international organizations in Ukraine will change. According to the new rules, priority in receiving assistance will be given to vulnerable categories of the population, such as:
- internally displaced persons
- pensioners
- large families
- people with disabilities
- those who have lost their homes
At the same time, many programs have temporarily suspended the acceptance of new applications.
It is reported that the UNHCR continues to provide assistance to those who applied in 2025. The winter assistance from the UN covers nine regions of Ukraine: Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv. A one-time payment for solid fuel or utility bill payments will be valid until March 31, 2026.
Assistance programs for 2026
The assistance programs for January 2026 include initiatives from various organizations. The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) offered a standard aid amount of 2200 UAH per family member. Additionally, UNICEF has requested funding of $350 million for 2026, indicating the growing need for support for vulnerable population groups.
It is also important to note that no international organization asks for a PIN code, CVV code, or password to a banking application, which helps to avoid fraud among aid recipients.
Changes in the rules for providing financial assistance reflect the current needs of Ukrainian society amid a prolonged crisis. The priority for vulnerable categories of the population emphasizes the commitment of international organizations to support those who have been most affected by the conflict and economic difficulties. As aid programs adapt to new conditions, it is important for recipients to be aware of the changes and opportunities available to them.
