Ukrainian Armed Forces Complete Transition to Corps Structure: How This Will Change Defense
According to glavcom.ua: The Armed Forces of Ukraine have successfully completed the transition to a corps structure, reported the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov. He noted that all newly created corps are already carrying out tasks as part of designated groupings. However, this process has been accompanied by nuances regarding staffing, training, and internal changes.
«The nuances are related to the fact that the Armed Forces are constantly undergoing changes as a complex mechanism,» Hnatov explained.
He emphasized that the General Staff has done significant work in preparing ten new corps management units simultaneously, involving the most trained servicemen and instructors from partner countries. The reform helped disrupt the enemy's plans for quick offensives in some regions of the country.
Further Steps and Prospects
Hnatov also announced that personnel transformations in the Armed Forces will continue, and work is underway to form Assault Forces and Cyber Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is worth noting that Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the start of the implementation of measures for the transition to a corps management structure at the beginning of the year.
For several decades, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had corps, but in the 2000s, they were disbanded. Now, the restoration of the corps structure will help strengthen the defense capability and effectiveness of the army. Hnatov also announced that the new corps will receive experienced combat commanders for successful task execution.
