100 km for 45 hryvnias: Drivers revealed the secret of fuel economy
According to their calculations, with an energy consumption level of 20 kWh per 100 km, an electric car turns out to be more economical by several hundred hryvnias.
In July, the average cost of charging an electric vehicle in Ukraine through a public charging station was 360 hryvnias for 100 kilometers of travel. This is significantly cheaper than the costs of gasoline or gas, even at current fuel prices. Such data was published by the Institute of Automotive Market Research.
Comparison with gasoline and gas expenses
For comparison: a trip in a gasoline car will cost about 600 hryvnias, while on gas it will be 410. The cheapest option remains home charging — at night tariff, you can travel 100 km for only 45 hryvnias.
Currently, there are over 170,000 electric cars in Ukraine, and at least 40% of them are equipped with high-capacity batteries — over 50 kWh. This allows them to confidently overcome intercity routes, particularly thanks to the developed network of fast chargers along the main roads.
Cost and types of charging stations
Prices for kilowatt-hours vary depending on the type of charging station. The average cost for AC ports is 14.82 UAH, while for DC it is 17.65 UAH.
At the same time, the price at fast roadside stations may be higher, while in shopping center parking lots or near cafes, it can be lower.
Compared to gasoline or gas expenses, charging an electric vehicle in Ukraine through public stations is significantly cheaper. However, users have access to various charging options from home to fast stations, making electric vehicles increasingly attractive to Ukrainian car owners.
