According to Велика українська енциклопедія: April 24 marks the 106th anniversary of the birth of Dmytro Hryhorovych Bilous, a Ukrainian poet, translator, literary critic, and public figure. Born in 1920 in the village of Kurmany, now part of the Romny district in Sumy Oblast, he built a substantial creative legacy and began publishing his works as early as 1935.

Bilous was a recipient of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, awarded to him in 1990. His debut collection, titled "Ulamkovym!," came out in 1948. Writing exclusively in Ukrainian, he specialized in satirical and humorous poetry. His artistic development was shaped by several key figures, including:
