Estonia to Strengthen Support for Ukraine: New Recovery Projects and EU Assistance
On November 26, a meeting took place between representatives of Ukraine and Estonia. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Artem Rybchenko, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Maria Ratnik. The meeting discussed issues of restoring critical infrastructure in Ukraine, cooperation in recovery projects, and support for Ukraine on its path to the European Union.
The representatives of Estonia confirmed their readiness to continue assisting Ukraine, including quickly responding to challenges during the winter period. Special attention was paid to joint recovery projects. Estonia also supports the Zhytomyr region in restoring social infrastructure and is ready to expand cooperation to other regions.
“The Estonian Development Center ESTDEV has successfully passed the EU audit and can now work directly with European funds. This will allow for the faster launch and implementation of joint projects in Ukraine.”
Estonia also confirmed its readiness to share experiences with Ukraine to support its path to the EU. Estonian experts, who went through reforms 15 years ago, are already working in Ukraine and helping with practical solutions. On the Ukrainian side, the importance of opening negotiation clusters and supporting partners for further progress was emphasized.
The Ukrainian side also requested Estonian partners for materials to protect energy infrastructure objects from enemy drones. Estonia promised to consider this request for support.
The meeting of representatives from Ukraine and Estonia was aimed at discussing issues of restoring critical infrastructure in Ukraine, joint recovery projects, and support for Ukraine on its path to the European Union. Agreements on operational assistance for rapid response to critical challenges during the winter period and further cooperation provided grounds for a positive narrative regarding future relations between the countries.
