How many Ukrainians receive social assistance in Poland

In Poland, the social assistance for refugees encompasses not all payments available to Ukrainians. Currently, about 2300 people receive it from the head of the Office for Foreigners, although temporary protection covers up to 980 thousand Ukrainian citizens in the country. This is reported by InPoland.

Social assistance in Poland: who is covered by the payment

This concerns support for Ukrainians who are under temporary protection and have applied to the assistance system overseen by the Office for Foreigners in Poland. It is a separate mechanism, so the figure should not be equated with the number of recipients of 800 Plus or other payments.

According to recent data from the agency, approximately 2300 Ukrainian refugees receive such assistance. This is less than 0.3% of the total number of Ukrainian citizens with temporary protection in Poland.

Among the recipients, men dominate: they make up 55%. The share of women is 45%.

Ukrainians in refugee centers receive housing and food

About 1300 Ukrainians live in refugee centers. There, the state covers basic needs:

• housing;

• food;

• medical care.

Another approximately 1000 people live outside such centers. They receive monthly cash assistance, which they can spend on housing and food.

Ukrainian refugees in Poland: what these numbers mean

Currently, there are from 960 to 980 thousand Ukrainians with temporary protection in Poland. Most of them do not use assistance from the Office for Foreigners, as they work, live independently, or have the right to other forms of support.

Thus, state assistance through the placement system and monthly payments remains targeted. It is primarily intended for people who cannot independently provide for housing and daily needs after leaving Ukraine.

It should be noted that Poland wants to impose a 30-year sentence for military violations.
