Fine Imposed on LLC 'Naftogaz Trading'

According to Главком: The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has fined LLC 'Naftogaz Trading' 226,000 hryvnias for violating laws on economic competition. This penalty stems from the company's failure to comply with a previous AMCU ruling issued on August 12, 2021. The Ukrainian energy market regulator is actively enforcing rules to ensure fair competition among suppliers.

The specific violations that led to the fine include:

  • Using designations confusingly similar to those of LLC 'Gas Supply Company Naftogaz Trading';
  • Disseminating false information on its website about having long-term partnerships with leading Ukrainian gas production companies.

Although LLC 'Naftogaz Trading' has ceased spreading the misleading information online, it continues to use the 'Naftogaz Trading' designation in its name.

Leadership Changes at NJSC 'Naftogaz of Ukraine'

It is worth noting that LLC 'Naftogaz Trading' holds valid and indefinite licenses for supplying natural gas and electricity to consumers, permitting its operations in these sectors.

Amid these developments, on March 17, the supervisory board of NJSC 'Naftogaz of Ukraine' elected a new chairman: Duncan Nightingale, who brings over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. The position of deputy chairman of the supervisory board was assumed by Konstantin Maryevych, a State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. These leadership changes could influence the company's future direction and its adherence to regulatory standards.

The AMCU's decision and the new leadership appointments at NJSC 'Naftogaz of Ukraine' reflect the state's efforts to uphold fair competition within the energy market.

Such measures may prove crucial for improving the company's image and rebuilding consumer trust. In the face of current challenges in the energy sector, regulatory compliance and operational transparency are key factors for ensuring stable market functioning.
