According to glavcom.ua: The Kremlin and Russian leader Vladimir Putin continue to demonstrate their broad territorial ambitions in Ukraine, which go beyond the occupied Crimea and four regions. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Public statements and meetings

In particular, Putin held a meeting on June 30 regarding the socio-economic development of the occupied regions, where he used the terms 'Donbass' and 'New Russia'.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserts: 'The history of Odessa is indeed connected with Russia.'
Putin's assistant Vladimir Medinsky stated: 'Russians and Ukrainians are one people with a common historical homeland.'

Experts' analysis

'Statements by Putin, Peskov, and Medinsky indicate Russia's territorial ambitions. Putin emphasized at the forum on June 20 that the Russian and Ukrainian peoples are one people, and Ukraine is Russian,' the report notes.

Expansion over the years

Experts indicate that Medinsky's statements about ancient Russian lands 'on both sides of the Dnieper' point to Russia's goal of controlling the river and regions. Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President's Office Pavel Palitsa warned about Russia's intentions to occupy all of Eastern Ukraine and seize the Odessa region by 2026.

Experts at ISW emphasize that the constant demands of Russian officials show that the Kremlin aims to destroy and subjugate Ukraine and its people.

The 1224th day of war continues.

Ukraine supports the war, while Russia continues its aspirations to occupy and expand its territorial influence in Ukraine.
