Biletsky on Mobilization: It is an Absolute Injustice that Affects Motivation
Mobilization in Ukraine is Incomparably Discriminatory
According to hvylya.net: The commander of the 3rd Army Corps, Andriy Biletsky, stated in an interview with 'Radio Svoboda' that the current mobilization in Ukraine is unfair and disproportionately affects the poorest segments of the population. According to him, the middle class and wealthy citizens, who massively volunteered back in 2022, continue to serve today. Meanwhile, the main burden of mobilization is currently borne by residents of villages and small towns.
'Who are they primarily drafting now? Villages, small settlements. No one is interested in large gym chains in the cities. Everyone is interested in bus stations, trains — places where people from villages come to work,' emphasized Biletsky.
He stressed that such selectivity harms citizens' motivation:
'How can this not affect? It's not about money; it's a different order of injustice. I will die, and you won't. It is absolute injustice. This is much worse than social inequality.'
Widespread Abuses with Exemptions
Separately, the military highlighted the widespread abuses related to exemptions.
'We have a huge number of people under exemptions of astonishing categories who have no relation to critical infrastructure, public transport, or the military-industrial complex. Let's be clear: this exemption was bought either by these people or their companies,' he stated.
Biletsky emphasized that without correcting this injustice, it is impossible to talk about fair mobilization.
Recall that earlier we reported a resonant story about a veteran whose son is still fighting against Russian occupiers at the front, who received five years in prison for refusing to serve in the TCC. 'Wave' also reported a scandal in the repair battalion of the Lviv 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, where over 20 servicemen are ready to leave the unit in protest against the command's decision to transfer them to an assault unit.
During the interview, Andriy Biletsky expressed his opinion on inequality and abuses during mobilization in Ukraine, stressing that these problems need to be addressed to ensure justice and effective defense capabilities of the country.
