The lawsuit from the family of the deceased in the plane crash led to compensation from Boeing

As a result of the jury's decision in the federal court of Chicago, the aircraft manufacturer Boeing is required to pay over $28 million to the family of Shikha Gardej, who died in the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX in Ethiopia in 2019. This information was published by the publication «Glavcom» referring to Reuters.

The lawsuit was one of the first among many that were filed after the tragedies involving Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The statement noted that the plane had technical problems, and the company did not warn the public about the possible danger.

Boeing's public responsibility for crashes

Representatives of the Gardej family emphasized that such a decision is an acknowledgment of the airline's public responsibility for its actions. They also noted that Boeing will not contest the court's decision.

Two crashes that occurred in Ethiopia and Indonesia, resulting in the deaths of 346 people due to shortcomings in the flight control system (MCAS), forced Boeing to pay significant compensation to victims and their families.

The lawsuit from the family of the deceased UN employee Shikha Gardej against Boeing ended in victory, which was an important signal in the matter of public responsibility of airlines for passenger safety.
