Suspicion Filed Against Senior Specialist at Kyiv City State Administration

According to Главком: Law enforcement in Kyiv has formally charged a senior specialist from the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) with accepting bribes in exchange for approving advertising permits. The total amount of bribes exceeds 64,000 Ukrainian hryvnias, and the charges have been brought under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to reports, the suspect served as the lead specialist in one of the department's divisions, handling the review and approval of permit documentation for outdoor advertising structures across the capital. A representative of a private company, who was facilitating the permit process for several business entities, approached her. The official allegedly demanded an illegal benefit from him in return for smooth and expedited document approvals.

Investigators documented multiple instances of fund transfers totaling over 64,000 hryvnias. The bribes were deposited into a bank account registered under the suspect's husband. According to the investigation, the husband was unaware of the money's illicit origin. The 33-year-old former official has been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to four years in prison, along with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.

In a separate case, a former inspector from the Improvement and Ecology Department of the Dnipro District State Administration in Kyiv will face trial for extorting money from a business owner. The inspector demanded $1,500 to overlook water vending machines installed in the Dnipro district without proper permits. Additionally, the head of a state medical facility in Kyiv is set to be tried for demanding nearly a quarter of a million hryvnias in exchange for an expert opinion.

The KMDA has not commented on the arrest of its employee. This situation has raised public concern and highlights potential corruption schemes within local government bodies.
