According to hvylya.net: The State Bureau of Investigation has completed the preliminary investigation into the case of a serviceman from Kyiv and his accomplice from Kharkiv, who were involved in organizing the illegal smuggling of men of draft age across the border.

'The resident of Kharkiv was looking for people who wanted to leave the country with several thousand dollars in their pockets. He promised a comfortable trip across the border in special transport, confidently advertising his 'correct connections' in advance. After receiving the money, he planned to keep part of it for himself and pass the rest to the serviceman who acted as the 'carrier', - reported the DBR.

According to investigative data, the serviceman was supposed to smuggle people to the border in a car with flashing lights and, using his official position, guarantee them unhindered passage through the border crossing point.

'In May 2025, at one of the gas stations in Kharkiv, illegal migrants handed money to the suspects, leaving a bag with 50 thousand dollars on the car seat. Soon after, DBR agents detained the soldier and his accomplice,' the statement said.

The suspects have been charged with the illegal transportation of persons across the state border by a criminal group (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The penalty for this article is imprisonment for a term of up to 9 years.

The materials of the case have been sent to court for completion.
