OLX Research: What Salary Do Ukrainians Consider Comfortable and Who Searches for Jobs the Most

The OLX Job Research showed that Ukrainians have different expectations regarding salaries and employment fields. The main results relate to the comfortable level of income, areas of employment, job search methods, and changes in professional activity.
Main Findings of the Research
According to the survey, 31% of Ukrainians consider a salary in the range of 20-30 thousand UAH to be comfortable, while 30% of respondents expect a salary from 30 to 50 thousand UAH. 19% of survey participants are satisfied with incomes starting from 50 thousand UAH, and 17% consider a salary level of 10-20 thousand UAH acceptable. Only 4% agree to a salary below 10 thousand UAH.
Regarding the fields of employment, 37% of respondents chose trade and sales as the most attractive sector, 21% preferred freelancing in any field, 16% showed interest in transportation and logistics, and 13% selected manufacturing and engineering. In job searching, Ukrainians predominantly rely on online platforms — 62% of respondents. 40% of job seekers use personal connections and recommendations, while 22% utilize social networks.
Analyzing the age structure of job seekers, 35% of them are aged 35-44 years, 21% are Ukrainians aged 45-54, 19% are people aged 25-34, 7% are youth aged 18-24, and 4% are minors under 18 years old. The gender distribution consists of 51% men and 47% women. In terms of regional distribution, 14% of job vacancies are searched for in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 11% in the Kyiv region, and 10% in the capital.
Regarding changes in professional activity, 54% of respondents continued to work in their field, 28% completely changed their profession, and 19% partially transitioned to another direction. The main reasons for changing jobs were:
- low salary (26%)
- downsizing or company closure (12%)
- relocation (10%)
At the time of the survey, 39% of participants had a permanent job, 19% were actively looking for new vacancies, 8% were temporarily employed, 7% were working retirees, 5% were freelancing, and 4% were students.
These results indicate that Ukrainians have diverse expectations regarding salaries, which depend on their experience, age, and profession. The trend of changing jobs due to economic conditions also indicates the population's readiness to adapt to new challenges in the labor market. Considering the high unemployment rate and economic instability, these factors may influence further changes in employment structures in Ukraine.
