From Italy Back to Ukraine: A Zaporizhzhia Woman’s Two-Year Journey
Coming Home: My Story
According to Міністерство соц. політики: The "Re-Inform" series features the account of Daria Miniailo, originally from Zaporizhzhia. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early spring 2022, she decided to relocate to Europe. Daria spent two years living in Italy, yet despite the obstacles she encountered, she eventually made the choice to return to Ukraine. She now resides in Lviv and works at the Center for Resilience.
A key takeaway from her experience is the realization that life shouldn't be postponed. As Daria herself put it:
“We decided not to put our lives on hold. Even though Ukraine isn't very safe right now, it's better to be here making decisions on the ground than to live in a state of waiting abroad.” - Daria Miniailo
This statement captures her determination and eagerness to actively engage in her country's affairs.
A Beacon of Hope and Resilience
Daria's return to Ukraine stands as a powerful emblem of hope and fortitude. At a time of great hardship, many people are similarly striving to rebuild their lives at home despite the challenges. Along with the "Re-Inform" team, Daria’s story serves as an inspiration for those navigating their place in a transformed reality.
The narrative of Daria Miniailo highlights a broader trend of Ukrainians choosing to restore their lives in their homeland despite difficult circumstances. It underscores their resilience and willingness to adapt to new conditions-a crucial element for the nation's post-war recovery. The homecoming of individuals like Daria may encourage others in similar situations, emphasizing the vital need to support internally displaced persons and integrate them back into Ukrainian society.
