Russians rarely launch Kalibrs from the Black Sea: Ukrainian Navy named the reason
According to hvylya.net: The Ukrainian Navy reported that Russian missile carriers are showing significantly less activity in the Black Sea. Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk emphasized this during a telethon.
According to him, in July, Russia launched 'Kalibrs' once from the Black Sea, twice in August, and once in September. 'This may indicate that they themselves understand the low effectiveness of using these weapons systems or that they are facing certain difficulties in their use,' he noted.
Pletenchuk explained that after the 'Web' operation in June, the Russians attempted to compensate for the losses in air strike capabilities, so missile carriers in the Black Sea showed the most activity during this period.
Ukrainian air defense destroyed most missiles
Despite this, the effectiveness of Russian missile carriers in the Black Sea remains low - 14 of the last 16 launched missiles were shot down by the Ukrainian air defense system.
According to the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Russia mainly maintains supply ships and patrol boats in Crimea, which are not combat-oriented. The rest of the Black Sea fleet has been relocated to the port of Novorossiysk. In the Black Sea, the Russians have five ships and three submarines armed with cruise missiles. During shelling, the occupiers often use the tactic of sending two ships into the water area, firing, and returning to the bay.
According to information from the Ukrainian Navy, the activity of Russian missile carriers in the Black Sea has significantly decreased. This may be related to the shooting down of most missiles by the Ukrainian air defense system, as well as an attempt by Russia to compensate for losses after certain military operations. The Russians mainly maintain ships and submarines equipped with cruise missiles in the Black Sea, but their activity has been low, according to Ukrainian military officials.
