Surge in Energoatom's Personnel Costs

Total labor expenses jumped from UAH 17.4 billion to UAH 22 billion, marking a 26.5% rise compared to the previous reporting period. This is part of a broader trend in Ukraine's energy sector, where companies are raising wages to attract and retain skilled workers amid ongoing economic pressures.
The company now employs more than 25,000 people. Average monthly spending per employee grew by UAH 18,247, reaching UAH 71,216.
Pavlo Kovtoniuk's Income
Pavlo Kovtoniuk was appointed acting chairman of the board on August 21, 2025. During this period, his total earnings reached UAH 5.64 million. In his first three months on the job-September through November 2025-Kovtoniuk earned UAH 849,100 per month. Starting in December 2025, his monthly income rose to UAH 934,000, and by January 2026, it hit UAH 949,000.
The overall payroll growth underscores Energoatom's commitment to raising employee compensation. It also reflects a wider industry push across Ukraine's energy sector to offer competitive salaries, helping to secure qualified talent in a challenging economic environment.
Given the country's current economic climate, higher wages can improve workers' social well-being and boost motivation. Such moves are crucial for maintaining stability and driving the sector's development amid modern challenges.
As the energy sector in Ukraine adapts to economic pressures, similar adjustments in personnel expenses have been observed at other companies, such as the state power grid operator, which recently reported a 13.4% increase in staff costs. This trend highlights the competitive landscape for talent across the industry, emphasizing the need for attractive compensation packages to retain skilled workers.
