European Parliament Backs Major Financial Aid for Ukraine

According to Офіс реформ: The European Parliament has approved a substantial €90 billion financial aid package for Ukraine, covering the years 2026 and 2027. This decision represents a significant commitment to supporting Ukraine as it continues to face the immense challenges of war and the urgent need to rebuild its critical infrastructure. This long-term funding is a cornerstone of the EU's strategic support.

International Grants and Energy Security Support

In a separate move, Ukraine's Ministry of Finance and the World Bank have signed a grant agreement for $690.8 million, funded by Japan and Canada using frozen Russian assets. The Netherlands has also pledged to increase its contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to €100 million, highlighting the critical importance of securing the country's energy grid. These funds are part of a broader international effort to ensure Ukraine's financial and operational stability.

Further practical assistance includes the delivery of 500 generators from the European Union to provide heating and water supply. The U.S.-Ukraine Investment Fund for Reconstruction has reported strong interest, receiving over 60 project proposals in just one month. Additionally, the UNDP and UNHCR have opened a community hub aimed at supporting recovery and the return of populations in southern Ukraine.

These combined measures reflect a growing and multi-faceted international response to Ukraine's wartime and post-war recovery challenges. The financial aid and grants from various sources are designed to ensure the country's stability and development during this prolonged crisis. Continued support from international partners will be crucial for the recovery of Ukraine's economy and social infrastructure.
