Google to Label Ads Created or Edited by Artificial Intelligence
Google Rolls Out New Feature for AI-Generated Ads
According to НВ — Техно: On July 10 at 10:30 AM, Google announced the launch of a new feature that will indicate whether an advertisement was created or modified using artificial intelligence. This label will appear across popular Google services, including Google Search, YouTube, and Google Discover. Users can find details about AI usage in a dedicated section called My Ad Center.
How to Use My Ad Center
To access My Ad Center, users can click on the three-dot menu or the information icon located directly on the ad itself. Within this section, there will be an option labeled 'How this ad was made,' which specifies whether AI was involved in its creation. If advertisers use Google's own generative AI tools, the label will be added automatically. In other cases, where ads are created using third-party services, advertisers must report AI usage on their own.
It is important to note that Google will not independently verify these ads. In certain countries, ads may also receive an AI usage label in line with local legal requirements. This initiative aims to increase transparency in advertising and provide users with more insight into the content they encounter.
The introduction of this feature reflects a growing corporate focus on the ethics of using artificial intelligence in advertising.
As AI technologies become more widespread, it is essential that users can understand how and by whom the content they see is created. This could significantly impact trust in advertising and the overall user experience within the Google ecosystem.
As Google continues to enhance its advertising transparency, it is also taking steps to improve its AI capabilities. Recently, the company announced plans to utilize Ukrainians' photos and voice queries for AI training. This initiative highlights the growing reliance on user-generated content to refine AI models, which may further influence how advertisements are tailored and presented to users.
