Who will serve on the front line and who in the rear: how the Military Medical Commission determines the suitability of mobilized personnel
Rules for the distribution of mobilized personnel in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: In Ukraine, rules for the distribution of mobilized personnel are in effect, determining who will serve on the front line and who will perform duties in rear support, depending on health status. The process of assessing the health of mobilized personnel is carried out by military doctors based on medical documents. The conclusions of the Military Medical Commission (MMC) are formed according to the schedule of diseases approved by the Order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 402.
Categories of suitability status
The MMC uses four main categories to determine the suitability status of mobilized personnel:
- a - fit for military service;
- b - fit for service in supply military units;
- c - temporarily unfit;
- d - unfit for military service.
The status 'fit for military service' means that a person can perform military duties without any restrictions. In contrast, the status 'fit for service in supply military units' implies that the mobilized individual will serve in units responsible for supplying military detachments.
There is also the status 'temporarily unfit', which is applied when the mobilized person requires treatment. The review period in this case can range from one to twelve months. For individuals who receive the status 'unfit for military service', this means being discharged. Additionally, the status 'unfit for military service with a review in 6-12 months' is used when long-term treatment is required.
“The system for assessing the suitability of mobilized personnel by the Military Medical Commission provides a clear definition of who can serve on the front line and who will remain in the rear performing other duties.”
The rules for the distribution of mobilized personnel in Ukraine are an important element of military organization, as they allow for the effective use of human resources in wartime conditions. A clear classification based on medical indicators helps not only in determining suitability for service but also in maintaining the morale of servicemen, as each of them understands their duties and capabilities. Thus, the MMC is a key instrument in ensuring the operational readiness of the Ukrainian army.
