Pension Indexation in March 2026: Who Will Not Receive an Increase
According to plans, on March 1, 2026, Ukraine will conduct the annual pension indexation aimed at partially compensating for the rise in prices of goods and services over the past year. This means that the basic part of pensions will be recalculated to account for inflation, but this will not apply to additional payments.
Limitations on Indexation
The indexation will not extend to recipients of special payments - military personnel, judges, prosecutors, Chernobyl victims, and other groups, as well as those who retired in recent years.
The recalculation of pensions for disability of the second and other groups is also not envisaged, except for specific cases provided for by legislation.
Amount of Indexation and Pension Fund
The government determines the amount of indexation each year. For 2026, a sum of 1.27 trillion hryvnias is allocated for pension provision, which is 123.4 billion more than in 2025. In addition, the possibility of increasing the minimum pension by 234 hryvnias, from 2361 to 2595 hryvnias, is being considered.
Impact of Martial Law on Indexation
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko noted that under martial law, the Cabinet of Ministers can independently set the amount of indexation, which may be lower than the previous one, depending on inflation forecasts and financial capabilities.
The amount of funds allocated for pension provision in 2026 increases compared to the previous year, which will allow for an increase in the minimum pension. At the same time, individuals who receive special payments and have recently retired will not receive indexation. Moreover, the impact of martial law may lead to a reduction in the indexation amount depending on circumstances.
