Japan allocates 2.45 billion UAH for the reconstruction of Ukraine: what the funds will be used for
The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 334 million UAH for the restoration of Ukraine's infrastructure
The government of Ukraine has decided to allocate 334 million UAH from the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure to ensure regional water supply and restore public infrastructure.
It is noted that equipment for water purification and uninterrupted water supply will be directed to the needs of water utilities in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kyiv. Also, under the MTDP Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction project, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided specialized vehicles for road inspections, and the purchase of auxiliary equipment for these vehicles is currently being considered.
Distribution of funds
The decree provides for the use of funds for various purposes, including ensuring sustainable energy supply, equipment for educational institutions, humanitarian activities of the State Emergency Service, medical equipment, and strengthening border security.
“Japan remains one of our reliable strategic partners in restoration. The approved procedure allows us to effectively and transparently use grant funds, promptly directing them to the needs of communities,” noted Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Ku-leba.
The decree prepared by the Ministry of Development allows the implementation of over 2.45 billion UAH, received as part of the grant agreement with JICA under the Emergency Recovery Program (Phase 4).
