The Time Capsule: The Most Expensive 'Kopek' in Ukraine, the VAZ-2101, Costs $45,000 (Photo)
In Ukraine, a 1972 VAZ-2101 has been put up for sale, previously used at the Dovzhenko Film Studio during the filming of clips and movies, as well as at exhibitions. The seller values the car at 1,900,000 UAH (approximately $45,000) and describes it as almost perfectly preserved. This is reported by Auto24.
Condition of the Body and Interior of the VAZ-2101
According to the owner, the car retains complete factory authenticity. The body is even, without corrosion, and the paint and chrome are in excellent condition. All seams and the underbody, as noted, look almost like new, and the glass has factory stamps, which is rarely seen for a 52-year-old model.
The interior also impresses with its preservation: the seats are without wear, the dashboard is clean, and all instruments function properly. The steering wheel and controls are original. The mileage is described as low and corresponding to the overall condition of the car.

Technical Specifications and Equipment of the VAZ-2101
The technical part corresponds to the exterior appearance: the engine starts without problems and runs smoothly, the gearbox shifts precisely, and the suspension is without extraneous noises. The brakes and handbrake are working, and the electricity functions correctly, including lights, turn signals, and wipers.
The completeness of the car is also emphasized by the seller:
- original keys;
- jack and spare wheel;
- factory tools;
- chrome hubcaps and decorative elements of the era.

Additional photos and videos are available, and there is an option to inspect the car on a lift.
Earlier, we reported that Ukraine continues to actively increase the import of passenger cars. From January to August 2025, the number of imported cars, both new and used, totaled 258,300 units. This is 20% more than during the same period last year.
