According to Главком: Heavy snowfall and a severe ice storm have transformed Kyiv's sidewalks and courtyards into hazardous skating rinks, leading to a surge in injuries among the capital's residents. As of January 15, 308 people have sought medical attention for injuries sustained in falls, highlighting a critical public safety issue that demands an urgent response from city authorities and emergency services. This severe winter weather is a recurring challenge for Ukrainian cities, testing municipal preparedness each year.
Among the injured, more than 50 individuals required hospitalization for treatment. One prominent casualty is Yevhen Kuzmenko, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, who suffered a broken spine from a fall on the ice. Describing his situation, he stated,
"I will be out of work for at least four months"
