Sophia Klak’s NMT Achievement

According to Главком: Sophia Klak, a graduate of Lviv Lyceum No. 81 named after Petro Sahaidachny, is among the few applicants who achieved the maximum 200 points in mathematics, Ukrainian history, and English on the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) in 2026. Her total score of 600 across three subjects marks a significant accomplishment. In an interview, she discussed her test preparation strategies, shared insights on managing exam stress, and touched on the cost of tutoring and potential reforms to the NMT.

Preparation for the Exam

The main NMT session for 2026 ends on June 25, with an additional session scheduled for July 17–24. Sophia spent the entire academic year preparing, starting at the beginning of 11th grade. The annual cost for tutors in all three subjects reached up to $2,500. Specifically, individual math lessons cost around $1,000 over 11 months, while group English classes were approximately $1,000. Math, English, and history sessions were held twice a week. English groups had three students, while history groups consisted of five to six students.

Sophia noted that 'school taught me discipline and responsibility' and emphasized the importance of controlling stress during the exam. She described taking the NMT as 'a test of endurance and a check for a nervous breakdown.'

Sophia Klak: 'I agree 100%, because stress really affects results and concentration.'

She also stressed that 'you shouldn’t exaggerate the importance of the NMT in your mind' and pointed out that 'I know people who weren’t top students in school but scored 200 points.'

Sophia plans to enroll at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Applicants who score at least 185 points on each NMT subject receive 10,000 UAH monthly during their first year of study. She noted that the subjects in which she achieved perfect scores require serious preparation, as topics like parametric equations are not covered in the standard school curriculum.

According to Oxen Lisovyi, the percentage of students failing to meet the minimum passing score on the NMT is 'extremely low,' indicating the test’s accessibility.

Sophia Klak’s success underscores the growing importance of quality NMT preparation in an increasingly competitive environment. Her experience, including the financial investment in tutoring, highlights that test performance can depend not only on knowledge but also on the resources applicants are willing to commit to their education. As the NMT undergoes reform, incorporating student perspectives and experiences like hers could help improve the assessment system in the future.

As applicants like Sophia Klak showcase their remarkable achievements in the National Multi-Subject Test, it's essential to understand the broader implications of this year's exam format. The 2026 Multi-Subject Test poses unique challenges that require not only academic knowledge but also mental resilience, emphasizing the importance of effective preparation strategies and stress management techniques among students.
