US Army Secretary Driscoll to Negotiate with Russia in Abu Dhabi: Details of the New Peace Agreement
Negotiations between the US and Russia in Abu Dhabi
US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll will hold negotiations with the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi, during which an updated draft peace agreement prepared with the participation of the US and Ukraine will be presented. The negotiations will take place without the involvement of Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the main group of American diplomats.
Updated Version of the Peace Agreement
The new version of the peace agreement, which consists of 28 points, retains about 19. The most sensitive issues, such as territories and mutual security guarantees, will be discussed between President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky. Driscoll has already met with President Zelensky in Kyiv and also held negotiations in Geneva with Marco Rubio and representatives of European governments.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov confirmed progress in consultations with the American side. Kyiv expects President Zelensky to visit the US in November. On Tuesday, there will be an online meeting of the 'coalition of willing' – about fifty countries supporting Ukraine.
President Trump's team has been working in unison for ten months to try and end the devastating war.
"We value productive and constructive meetings in Geneva between the Ukrainian and American delegations," noted Driscoll.
According to him,
"our delegations reached a common understanding regarding the key conditions of the agreement discussed in Geneva"
. However, he also emphasized that 'the path will be long, and the Russians will definitely increase pressure', noting that 'many right elements have been taken into account, but many issues remain open.'
These negotiations are significant for the future development of the situation in the region, as they may become a decisive step towards achieving peace. The participation of the Ukrainian side in the negotiations underscores its importance in shaping the future security in Europe. Observers point out that the success of these negotiations will depend not only on the willingness to compromise from Ukraine and the US, but also on Russia's reaction to the proposed conditions of the agreement.
