Moscow airport defends against drones
Аеропорт Шереметьєво вкладає значні кошти у захист від дронів: які нові технології придбають.

The Moscow airport 'Sheremetyevo' has decided to spend millions on combating drones. According to the publication 'Verstka', the airport intends to spend 781 million rubles on the purchase of special systems for detecting and repelling unmanned aerial vehicles.

In particular, more than half of this money will go towards equipment, including a radar station, devices for detection, and means of electronic countermeasures. The rest of the funds will be used for design, technical support, and acquiring software licenses.

It is stated that this initiative is aimed at increasing the security level of the 'Sheremetyevo' airport and its surroundings, up to three thousand meters away, from potential threats posed by drones.

It is planned that this project will be completed within 330 days after the contract is signed. It is worth noting that previously, illegal use of drones has already led to serious delays in the operations of Russian airports, for example, at Domodedovo, passengers waited more than 33 hours for their flights due to air traffic restrictions.

Since the beginning of 2025, Russian airports have been forced to suspend operations at least 217 times due to potential threats from drones.

Sheremetyevo airport is investing millions in modern systems to combat drones to enhance the safety level of its passengers and staff. This initiative is a response to the growing threat from the illegal use of drones, which has already caused serious problems at other airports in Russia.
