Zelenskyy to Address Munich Security Conference: Key Agenda for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Receives Invitation to Key Security Forum
According to МЗС: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to speak at the Munich Security Conference, as confirmed by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhy during a briefing on February 4. The conference will serve as a critical platform for discussing urgent security matters, particularly the situation in Ukraine following Russia's ongoing aggression. This annual gathering is a major event where global security policy is shaped.
Focus on Energy Security and International Support
The briefing also detailed efforts by Ukraine's Foreign Ministry and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha to inform international partners about the consequences of Russian shelling. It was noted that Russia has violated a so-called
"energy truce,"
leading to what was described as genocidal destruction of energy infrastructure during severe winter frosts. In this context, the importance of concrete and consistent aid from international allies to bolster Ukraine's energy resilience was strongly emphasized.
Additionally, the outcomes of recent talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia held in Abu Dhabi were discussed. The problems arising from massive Russian bombardments are severely undermining peace efforts. Increasing international pressure on Russia remains a crucial step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
President Zelenskyy's invitation to the Munich conference underscores the vital importance of sustained international backing amid the prolonged conflict with Russia. The planned discussions on security, with a focus on Ukraine, highlight the need for a consolidated global effort to resolve the crisis. The specific emphasis on energy security and Russian violations points to a worsening humanitarian situation in Ukraine that demands an urgent response from its partners.
