Vinnytsia: 14 people poisoned by mushrooms in a year, including a teenager

Mushrooms that may be toxic
У Вінниці за рік зареєстровано 14 випадків отруєння грибами, серед постраждалих – підліток.

According to glavcom.ua: In Vinnytsia, this year already 14 people have suffered from poisoning by wild mushrooms, among them even a 15-year-old girl. People consumed mushrooms that looked similar to edible ones, or preserved them at home without following the rules. The affected individuals experienced nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and weakness, sometimes even liver poisoning, which can be life-threatening.

It is important to remember the rules during the collection and consumption of mushrooms, as even thermal processing does not always save. Doctors advise against collecting unknown mushrooms, refraining from their preservation at home, and not experimenting with overly similar species. At the slightest signs of poisoning, one should immediately consult a doctor, as self-treatment can end tragically.

  • Avoid collecting unknown mushrooms.
  • Do not buy mushrooms at unverified markets.
  • Do not give children mushroom dishes.
  • Avoid preserving mushrooms at home.
  • Do not experiment with overly similar species.
  • At the first signs of poisoning, consult a doctor immediately.

Do not trust rumors about the 'healing' properties of fly agaric, as some mushrooms even under the guise of medicinal can hide serious danger.
