Uncovering a Corruption Scheme in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) have uncovered an organized criminal group consisting of members of parliament from the 'Servant of the People' party. These MPs received illegal benefits for voting in the Verkhovna Rada. Four MPs, namely Yevhen Pyvovarov, Ihor Nehulevskyi, Olha Savchenko, and Yuriy Kysel, have been informed of suspicion under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for the acceptance of illegal benefits by a public official.
Court Rulings and Investigation Details
The court ruling also mentions Articles 255, pertaining to the creation of a criminal organization, and 369, which covers the provision of illegal benefits. Furthermore, as part of the investigation, it was revealed that Yuriy Koryavchenkov, known as Yuzik, has conflicting information regarding his whereabouts. It became known that NABU detectives were wiretapping Yuriy Kysel's office, where MPs were receiving 'envelopes' with money.
This case highlights serious violations in the work of some elected representatives and their involvement in corruption schemes in the Verkhovna Rada.
