National Bank denies rumors about the new 5000 hryvnia banknote: what was shown online
Misleading information about the new banknote design
The National Bank of Ukraine has denied the information about the new design of the 5000 hryvnia banknote, stating that the videos circulated online showcase an old presentation item. In particular, it refers to the souvenir specimen 'Panteleimon Kulish', created in 2008 by the Banknote and Minting Yard.
The presentation item 'Panteleimon Kulish' is not a means of payment, as it does not contain the denomination or the name of the Ukrainian currency 'hryvnia'. The specimen was exclusively issued in souvenir booklets for promotional purposes. As explained by the National Bank, it is not currently developing the design of a 5000 hryvnia banknote.
The video depicts this very presentation item, made in 2008 to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the Banknote and Minting Yard of the National Bank of Ukraine.
