Svitlana Paveletska Comments on Backlash Following Concert

According to Главком: In a recent interview, Svitlana Paveletska, the fiancée of former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, responded to the public criticism she faced after videos of her dancing at a Monatik concert in the National Opera went viral. Paveletska asserted that the wave of outrage was artificially manufactured. She clarified the event's context, noting it was a Black Tie affair and that the entire audience, not just her, was actively dancing and enjoying themselves.

The video surfaced online several days after the concert, coinciding with her birthday. Paveletska pointed out how the footage was shot from an angle that misleadingly suggested she was the only one dancing, isolating her from the celebratory atmosphere that filled the hall:

“It was filmed from a perspective that made it look like everyone was sitting and listening to Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' while I was the only one jumping up. But that wasn't the case-the entire hall was dancing.”

War and the Nation's Emotional State

Paveletska further suggested the backlash was fueled not only by her actions but by the broader, tense atmosphere in a country living through war. She remarked:

“It was a technological wave, someone launched it artificially. But many real people also joined in because we are living in a war, and such things trigger people.”

She expressed dismay at the aggressive nature of the criticism directed at her online: “I don't understand what must happen in a person's life for them to go to a stranger's page and write about how and how much she should die.”

Additionally, Paveletska mentioned her neighbor, Andriy Yermak, the Head of the President's Office, and clarified that she purchased her apartment in central Kyiv before Kuleba became a minister. She also shared her perspective on finding meaning in life during wartime:

  • “People died on the front lines so that the country could have a life.”
  • “This does not mean we have to pretend that life does not exist.”

The situation surrounding Svitlana Paveletska reflects wider social and emotional challenges Ukrainians face during the ongoing conflict. Public indignation over her concert behavior may be linked to the profound stress and trauma caused by the war. This incident underscores the critical need for societal support and understanding, especially as people strive to experience moments of joy and normalcy under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. In Ukraine, public figures often face intense scrutiny, balancing personal expression with the nation's collective grief.
