According to hvylya.net: The Hill analyst Alexander J. Motyl believes that for China, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is advantageous because it can exhaust Moscow and diminish Western influence. China is interested in a scenario where the war lasts for years.

Even with global issues concerning relations with the U.S., China sees Russia as a potential threat. The potential destabilization of the region due to Moscow is considered a more critical problem for it than relations with the United States.

China does not want Putin to win the war, as this would free him for new adventures - like invading NATO countries or annexing northern Kazakhstan. An overly confident Russia may begin to drift away from Beijing, which is not part of Chinese diplomatic plans.

In the absence of alternatives, China sees a long conflict as a prospect. The goal is for Russia to remain dependent on assistance and in need so that China can strengthen its influence in the region.

If Russia is defeated, chaos, civil war, and the breakup of the federation threaten, which could affect all of Eurasia. Such a situation, even with possible border expansion, is considered unacceptable for China due to threats to its own security.

Thus, for Beijing, the most suitable option is a prolonged war that keeps Russia in narrow dependence, promoting China's interests.

The news describes how China views the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine as an opportunity to strengthen its position in the region. According to analysts, a prolonged war could lead to the weakening and dependence of Russia on China, which aligns with Beijing's strategic plans. The recent escalation of the situation in eastern Ukraine and the intensification of the conflict allow Chinese diplomats to actively explore opportunities to secure their interests in the region.
