Overnight Assault on Kyiv

According to ХВИЛЯ: Russia’s latest nighttime attack on Kyiv left 11 people injured, among them a child. Residential buildings, office spaces, and a theological seminary were damaged in the barrage. Notably, the first hits on civilian infrastructure occurred even before the air raid siren sounded.

Weapons Used and Aftermath

Moscow deployed over 120 drones and 12 missiles in the assault, half of which were ballistic. While most aerial threats were intercepted, the ballistic missiles could not be stopped. Cleanup and response efforts are currently underway in Kyiv, as well as in the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated: 'Strikes on civilian infrastructure began even before the air raid warning was issued.'

Zelenskyy also emphasized that 'the top priority for all our institutions right now is to ensure this.' He referenced the support packages agreed upon during the NATO meeting and urged faster progress on licensing for Patriot systems and a joint European anti-ballistic missile project.

This attack serves as yet another reminder of the escalating hostilities in Ukraine and the ongoing danger to civilians. At the same time, the president’s response highlights the urgent need to strengthen the country’s defense systems and secure international support amid the protracted conflict. The deployment of advanced technologies, such as air defense systems, could prove critical to protecting Ukrainian cities.
