Germany to sharply reduce payments to Ukrainians: who will lose more than 380 euros
The German authorities have decided to reduce financial support for Ukrainians who arrived in the country after April 1, 2025. According to Bild, this will mean that newly arrived Ukrainians will now receive less money, being considered as individuals seeking asylum.
Changes in the status of Ukrainians in Germany
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Social Policy Minister Barbel Bas announced the decision to end the special refugee status for Ukrainians. This will lead to a reduction in financial assistance from 563 euros per month to 180 euros for new Ukrainians.
The explanation from the German authorities is that only a small number of Ukrainians are officially working in the country, which has become a key argument for revising the policy regarding refugees from Ukraine.
The change in status and reduction of financial support for Ukrainians arriving in Germany indicates that the country's authorities are reassessing their policy towards refugees from Ukraine, considering the limited number of officially employed Ukrainians in Germany.
