Norway's Eurovision 2026 Entry

According to Главком: Norway has selected its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. The winner of the national selection, Melodi Grand Prix 2026, held on February 28, is Jonas Lovv with his song 'Ya Ya Ya'. He triumphed in a field of nine competing artists through a combined voting system where 60% of the votes came from the public and 40% from an international jury. The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the world's largest non-sporting television events, and national selections like this generate significant excitement across participating countries.

The Melodi Grand Prix 2026 Final

Hosted by TV presenters Marte Stokstad, Markus Neby, and Ronny Brede Aase, the final took place at the Håkons Hall in Lillehammer. For the second consecutive year, a shortened format was used, where each act performed their song only once. This streamlined approach, also adopted by the national selections in Denmark and Finland, aims to create a fast-paced and engaging show for viewers.

Jonas Lovv, whose full name is Jonas Lovv Hellesøy, is a pop and indie-pop artist from Bergen and a former contestant on the tenth season of The Voice Norge. He secured victory with a total of 265 points. The top five finalists in Melodi Grand Prix 2026 were:

  • Jonas Lovv with 'Ya Ya Ya' (265 points)
  • Alexander Rybak with 'Rise' (192 points)
  • Emma with 'Northern Lights' (127 points)
  • Mileo with 'Frankenstein' (89 points)
  • Storm with 'Lullaby' (50 points)
"I want to break down the barriers between the stage and the audience and inspire people to be themselves without any limitations," said Jonas Lovv.

In other Eurovision 2026 selection news, the band Lavina will represent Serbia with the song 'Kraj mene', while Senhit will perform 'Superstar' for San Marino.

Jonas Lovv's selection continues Norway's trend of favoring pop and indie-pop music on the Eurovision stage. His victory highlights the success of modernized national final formats designed to engage a broad audience. Given Norway's strong historical record at the contest, including three previous wins, there will be high hopes for Lovv to deliver a creative and competitive performance on the international stage in Vienna.
