New Military ID Card in Ukraine: What Changes for Soldiers
Ukrainian soldiers have received a new identification document - an ID card that combines several functions in one electronic carrier. This will facilitate the accounting of military personnel and make the process safer and more efficient.
According to the new order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the ID card has become mandatory for all military personnel starting from November 1, 2025. It is issued in personnel services or relevant authorities, and to obtain it, one must order the card within 5 days after being enrolled in service or after other significant events.
The new ID card has clear implementation rules as specified in the order of the Ministry of Defense.
Military personnel can use old documents until receiving the new card to ensure continuous service. This document has many functions, including an electronic signature, access pass to military units, and authorization to information systems.
The validity period of the ID card is 10 years, and they bear full responsibility for its preservation. In case of loss of the card, they should inform the commander for further actions. Previous documents should be destroyed to avoid duplication and maintain data confidentiality.
In case of loss or death of a serviceman, specific rules for card destruction apply. Overall, the new ID card simplifies the accounting of military personnel and makes it safer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Transport Service.
