Physical identification of pension and insurance payment recipients

According to hvylya.net: Pension and insurance payment recipients temporarily outside Ukraine must undergo physical identification by December 31 of this year, as reported by the Main Office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Luhansk region.

This requirement applies to Ukrainian citizens who have been abroad for at least 183 days during the calendar year (including the days of arrival and departure). Identification must also be completed by those who received temporary protection or refugee status abroad due to Russian aggression, even if they have not formalized documents for permanent residence abroad.

The Pension Fund offers three ways to undergo physical identification.
  • First: remotely via Diia.Signature (Diia ID).
  • Second: through video conferencing.
  • Third: contacting a Ukrainian diplomatic mission abroad to obtain a certificate confirming the person's living status, which is then sent to the territorial bodies of the PFU.

Identification of pensioners

Failure to undergo physical identification may result in the suspension of pension and insurance payments. Remember, some pensioners should not expect indexing in 2026.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine requires the physical identification of pension and insurance payment recipients temporarily abroad by the end of this year. This is necessary for the continued receipt of social payments.
