The new tax on cars in Ukraine: how much drivers will pay from 2025
Ukrainian drivers now know how much money they need to pay when registering a car for the first time. This information was disseminated by the press service of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
When registering a passenger car in Ukraine for the first time, the owner must pay a contribution to the state pension insurance fund. This contribution is mandatory and one-time - it must be paid for both new cars and those imported from abroad with mileage.
Contribution rates for 2025:
- for cars worth up to 499,620 hryvnias - 3%
- for cars valued from 499,620 to 878,120 hryvnias - 4%
- for cars costing more than 878,120 hryvnias - 5%
Electric cars are exempt from this contribution during the first registration. After customs clearance, certain procedures must be followed: obtaining a certificate of conformity, an expert examination at the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and registering the car at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (the place of registration does not matter).
- To obtain this service, you can register in the electronic queue through the E-registration system - on the website or in the mobile application.
Thus, car owners can now conveniently and quickly go through the registration process, complying with the established rules and tax rates.
