According to a survey of 1,000 participants conducted by Send My Bag, 48% of adults believe that airlines deliberately profit from confusing baggage policies. Thus, travelers are willing to go to extremes to avoid the additional baggage fees imposed by airlines.
The fees for baggage and costs for excess weight can be quite high during travel, which is why some vacationers are 'naked flying' to save money. The trend, primarily encompassing Gen Z and millennials, involves passengers boarding a flight with absolutely no baggage except for their phone and wallet.
Research has shown that travelers are increasingly seeking ways to bypass airlines' strict rules. Among the most popular methods are wearing as much clothing as possible to avoid putting it in a suitcase or using vacuum bags for maximum space savings in suitcases. 28-year-old Rachel Kelly opted for the 'naked flight' approach when she moved from Ireland to Australia earlier this year.
In today's world, more and more passengers are looking for ways to save on flights, including by forgoing baggage. Research indicates that this trend is particularly relevant among young people. This approach can be beneficial for passengers, but it also poses challenges during travel. Regardless of how it is viewed, the discussed trend continues to gain popularity.
