According to the environmental organization 'Ecoaction,' the Odesa and Kherson regions, along with the Crimean Peninsula, could be underwater by the year 2100. The report notes that over the past 3,000 years, ocean level fluctuations did not exceed 0.2 mm per year. However, between 1901 and 2010, the global mean sea level rose by nearly 20 cm. Coastal zones have proven most vulnerable, including:

• major river deltas;
• low-lying coastal zones.

The flood risk extends beyond the Odesa and Kherson regions, threatening resort towns, millions of hectares of farmland, seaports, and industrial infrastructure.
