Appeal to Residents of Crimea

According to Главком: The Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has issued a warning to people living on the temporarily occupied peninsula, urging them to follow safety protocols as attacks on Russian military targets intensify. The statement specifically advises certain groups of civilians to consider temporarily evacuating Crimea.

In recent weeks, Ukraine’s defense forces have ramped up strikes against Russian military infrastructure on the peninsula and its approaches. The targets include:

  • ammunition depots,
  • fuel storage facilities,
  • bridges,
  • ferry crossings, and other assets.

It is important to note that Ukrainian forces are only hitting military objectives. The ongoing operation to gradually isolate Crimea aims to weaken the occupying Russian forces.

Residents have been told to stay away from military bases, warehouses, air defense positions, and other Russian army installations. People should immediately respond to danger warnings and head to shelters during explosions or air raids. Additionally, the population is advised to stock up on water, food, and essential medicines in advance.

Current Situation on Occupied Territory

Given the circumstances, there is also a risk of new waves of forced mobilization in the occupied region. The occupation authorities may intensify the conscription of local residents into the Russian military. Ukraine’s General Staff reported strikes on railway bridges near Rozdolne and Vladyslavivka in occupied Crimea. The occupiers have been forced to build pontoon and embankment crossings to supply their units on the peninsula.

'Those who can-especially families with children, the elderly, and people requiring constant medical care-are advised to consider temporarily leaving the peninsula,' said the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The situation in Crimea remains tense, and the surge in military activity signals an escalation of the conflict in the region. The call for residents to follow safety measures and consider evacuation highlights serious threats to civilians, likely stemming from intensive combat operations. It also underscores the Ukrainian government’s concern for people’s safety in the occupied territory and its readiness to address new challenges arising from military campaigns.

In light of the escalating military actions in Crimea, it's essential for residents to stay informed about new regulations affecting daily life. For example, a recent ban on nighttime motorcycle use has been implemented to address safety concerns amid the ongoing drone activity. Understanding these changes can help residents navigate the increasingly complex situation on the peninsula.
