Consecration of the Tower of Jesus Christ
According to УНІАН — Туризм: On June 11, 2026, Pope Leo XIV consecrated the newly completed Tower of Jesus Christ at the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. The ceremony drew approximately 120,000 attendees who witnessed a landmark moment in both architectural and religious history. Rising 172.5 meters, the new tower makes the Sagrada Familia the tallest church on the planet. The event also marked the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudí, the visionary architect who devoted more than four decades to designing this masterpiece.

- Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez
During the service, the Pope described the Sagrada Familia as
“a masterpiece of stone, color, and light”
and called it
“a symbol of unity and harmony for all of Spain.”
The basilica features 18 towers in total: 12 dedicated to the apostles, 4 to the evangelists, 1 to the Virgin Mary, and 1 to Jesus Christ.
