Ukrainian Pensions Set for Increase in March 2026: Who Benefits and by How Much
Ukraine's Pension Recalculation Scheduled for March 1, 2026
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved a pension recalculation to take effect on March 1, 2026, based on Resolution No. 236. This adjustment will be applied automatically to all pensions granted on or before December 31, 2025. The plan establishes specific minimum and maximum increase amounts, applies different adjustment coefficients based on the year the pension was initially awarded, and sets guaranteed minimum payments for various categories of non-working retirees.
According to the Ukrainian Pension Fund (PFU), the increase is a result of scheduled indexation. The recalculation process will begin on March 1, 2026, a significant development for millions of Ukrainian citizens. Individuals do not need to apply to the Pension Fund, as the adjustment will be automatic. The exact increase for each pensioner will be calculated individually but will fall within a mandated range: no less than 100 hryvnias and no more than 2,595 hryvnias.
Adjustment Coefficients and Guaranteed Minimums
A wage growth coefficient of 1.121 will be applied to calculate the new payments for the following categories:
- military pensions;
- minimum payments for Chornobyl disaster survivors with disabilities;
- pensions for civil servants, scientists, and former members of parliament.
Separate coefficients will apply to pensions awarded in other years: 1.061 for 2021 and 2022; 1.048 for 2023; 1.036 for 2024; and 1.024 for 2025.
Guaranteed minimums for non-working pensioners will also be revised. For individuals aged 65 and over with a full work history (35 years for men, 30 for women) and for those over 80, the payment cannot be less than 4,213 hryvnias. For citizens aged 70 to 80 with a full work history, the guaranteed minimum is set at 4,050 hryvnias. For individuals with Group I disabilities under the age of 70, the minimum threshold is 3,725 hryvnias, while for other non-working pensioners it is 3,406 hryvnias. For pensioners who are still employed, the automatic recalculation of their payments will be conducted starting April 1, 2026.
This pension recalculation is part of the government's efforts to support social stability among Ukrainian citizens, particularly in the context of rising inflation and ongoing economic challenges.
Automating the recalculation process will simplify the procedure for retirees, reducing the need for them to contact the Pension Fund directly. This policy change is expected to improve the financial situation for many non-working pensioners, representing a key step in strengthening their social protection. The adjustment is a routine, legally mandated indexation intended to help pensions keep pace with economic changes.
