According to hvylya.net: Ukrainians are promised higher pensions in 2026. According to the new budget, the government plans to increase the minimum pension by almost 10% – from 2361 to 2595 hryvnias. The main increase is expected in March due to indexing.

The exact indexing coefficient will be established in February, taking into account the statistics of the current year. The mechanism works as follows: the basic pension is increased by a certain percentage related to the growth of the average salary and inflation.

If inflation is 9.6%, and salaries grow as they did in 2024, pensions could increase by 15.4%. However, this does not compensate for the overall price increase over the past years. During the budget discussion, deputies will propose their own amendments.

Currently, the average pension in Ukraine has increased insignificantly – only by 26.6 hryvnias, to 6436.79 UAH. The highest payments are recorded in Kyiv (8848.19 UAH), while the lowest are in the Ternopil region (4996.69 UAH).

The average pension for retired judges amounts to 109898.29 UAH. Over the same period, while the ordinary pension increased by 26.6 UAH, payments to judges nearly doubled. As for ordinary pensioners (excluding pension for years of service), their average payment increased by 15.37 UAH – to 6118.51 UAH.

According to the new budget, the government of Ukraine plans to increase the minimum pension by 10% in 2026. Pensions may grow even more if inflation and average salaries rise at certain rates. Such an increase is supposed to compensate for the rise in prices but requires clarification during the work on the budget. The average pension in the country has slightly increased in recent months but remains quite low compared to other countries.
