Pensioners Abroad: How to Pass Identification via Video Call
Physical Identification for Ukrainian Pensioners
Some Ukrainian pensioners must complete physical identification by the end of 2025 in order to continue receiving pension payments. Now this procedure can be done via video call to simplify the process for those who are abroad or in temporarily occupied territories.
For many pensioners, identification has become very important, as often citizens do not understand what this requirement entails and how to pass it properly. In particular, identification is mandatory for those who live in temporarily occupied territories, have moved to areas controlled by Ukraine, or are temporarily abroad.
'This is probably the most pressing issue for Ukrainian pensioners,' noted the journalist.
Who Must Complete Identification by the End of the Year
-
those living in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine;
-
those who left the occupied territories and are now residing in the controlled territory of Ukraine;
-
those temporarily living abroad, even if they are not internally displaced persons (IDPs).
It is important to note that until October 1, identification does not concern pensioners. This requirement is mandatory for recipients of social payments who previously received them through social protection offices.
How to Complete Identification: Options
-
personal visit to a service center or bank;
-
contacting the Ukrainian consulate abroad;
-
electronic confirmation on the portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
-
video call for those who cannot use the first options.
Video Identification Procedure
To apply for video identification, you need to fill out a form on the Pension Fund's website, after which you will receive a call from a fund employee. The procedure takes about 20 minutes during which you will be asked to show documents and answer the employee's questions.
After confirming your identity, pension payments will be continued. It is also worth noting that the Pension Fund has made changes regarding the digitalization of workbooks to avoid losing service time when retiring.
Pensioners in Ukraine who reside in temporarily occupied territories or abroad have the opportunity to complete physical identification by the end of 2025. This procedure becomes mandatory for recipients of pension payments through the social protection office. To simplify the process, identification can now also be completed through video calls, greatly easing the lives of many citizens.
