Commemoration of Bohdan Oleshko

Every day at 9 o'clock Ukrainians honor the memory of all who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we pay eternal tribute to the soldier Bohdan Oleshko.

Ihor Yakymchuk, a 40-year-old soldier, died on May 31, 2024, in the Donetsk region during hostilities. Bohdan was born on December 2, 1995, in the village of Morochne in the Rivne region and grew up here. After finishing local school, he entered a vocational college in Rivne where he obtained an education as a technician-designer.

“Military service became a great calling for him. He was very passionate about this work. He obtained the rank of junior sergeant, was a true commander and comrade – determined, strong, always striving to achieve set goals. At the same time, he remained kind, honest, and just,” said Bohdan's wife.

Bohdan loved life and adventures, enjoyed fishing and sports. His life motto was: “Where there is freedom, there is the Cossacks' strength.” Unfortunately, the junior sergeant died in battle in August 2025.

Farewell to Bohdan Oleshko will take place on Tuesday, November 4, at 10:00 AM at Independence Square in Rivne, where he will be buried in the Alley of Heroes of the “Nove” cemetery. According to the information from “Hlavkom,” let us honor with a moment of silence all Ukrainians who have died for the freedom of our state at the hands of Russian invaders.
